Funny story:
Last night, Dad had the audacity to claim that Tasha Yar lasted for THREE seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation. The conversation went somewhat thusly:
DAD: Too bad she only lasted for three seasons. *holds up three fingers*
ME: *holds up one finger* One season.
DAD: Okay, two seasons.
ME: Dad, "Skin of Evil" aired in the first season.
DAD: It was the season finale of the first season?
ME: It was in the MIDDLE of the season. She didn't even last an entire season.
DAD: No, she lasted longer than that.
ME: I'll bet you a MILLION dollars that she left in the first season.
DAD: *hesitates* Well, I won't bet a million, but I'd bet that she lasted longer than that.
ME: *takes up convieniently placed Strider and looks it up*
---
Needless to say, I was right. DUH! See, the thing is that Dad has always claimed to know more about Star Trek and Star Wars than the rest of us because he saw them all first. We didn't start watching TNG until later into the show.
HOWEVER, every single time, he manages to fail to take into account the fact that we, his children, have watched the reruns over and over again, whenever they're on, until they're embedded in our brains.
The same goes for Star Wars, of course.
---
THEN Dad had the outright nerve to claim that Riker didn't have a beard until the THIRD season!
I told Cecily both of these things and she just went, "Wow..." because of how obviously wrong that is.
This is how you measure out the seasons of TNG. I've done it since I was a kid:
Season 1: Jumpsuit uniforms; Riker - no beard; Troi - hair in bun; Wesley - tacky, itchy sweaters until he's made an Acting Ensign, then it's the grey uniform with the thin stripes at the shoulders. Worf and Geordi are in red uniforms.
Season 2: Jumpsuits; Riker - beard and a little chubbier; Worf - yellow-green uniform, but hair really short; Troi - hair pulled away from her face, but long and flowing down her back - jumpsuit maroon and grey uniforms.
Season 3: First season with seperate top and bottom uniforms, but they look incredibly uncomfortable especially on Geordi. Two seams on the front aligned with the shoulders. Troi - turquoise dress thing. Beverly's hair is big, straight, and chinlength with bangs.
Season 4: More of the same. Wesley is given the field commission of Ensign, so red uniform. They try different stuff with Crusher's hair in different episodes, but it still ends up the same. Worf - Chinlength hair.
Season 5: Crusher's hair is really long and big. Uniforms look a little more comfortable in general. Picard wears that damed suede captain's jacket over the grey bit of his uniform. Ensign Roe is present.
Season 6: Worf - ponytail baby! Troi, hair pulled back in a curly badger hairpiece on top of her head, looking like a long ponytail. She gets a normal Starfleet blue uniform in the middle of the season. Beverly's hair is much more managable, straight, shoulder length, but normal looking.
Season 7: I get 7 and 6 mixed up because there isn't a lot of distinction in between the two of them. Troi's hair goes back to the way it was in seasons 2-5 with the blue uniform. But I think that's it.
And there you go. You're welcome! I'll be here all week.

Found it!
Song and Lyrics for Glorious - by MUSE
Rose-tinted view
And satellites that compromise the truth
I wanted more
With the cuts and the bruises
Touch my face
A hopeless embrace
Faith, it drives me away
But it turns me on
Like a strangers love
It rockets through the universe
It fuels the lies, it feeds the curse
Believes we could be glorious
I need to believe
But I still want more
With the cuts and the bruises
Don't close the door
On what you adore
Faith, it drives me away
But it turns me on
Like a strangers love
It rockets through the universe
It fuels the lies, it feeds the curse
Beleives we could be glorious
---
I'm listening to it over and over again.

Christmas theme for my journal! Kind of swiped from the desktop I made last year during the "Arctic Blast!". Now that I look at it though, there are some boo-boo's on the header that I need to fix. Otherwise they'll bug me until I feel I must ram my head against something.
Finally saw "Waters of Mars". Will elaborate on that later. If you'd like to discuss, however, you're welcome to comment here. :)
Speaking of "Arctic Blast", we've been getting the same type of weather as we did last year, except it's totally dry. It's been sunny but freaking FREEZING! I'm so thankful that my office is warmer than the church building was yesterday.
Yeeeesh!
